Online Therapy | MD & VA
Please reach out via email at contact@alcovethreapyservices.com if you cannot find answers to your questions below.
Before your first session, we will communicate via email to confirm the date and time of your appointment. I will send you intake paperwork to be completed more than 24 hours prior to your intake session so I can review it before meeting you.
During your first session, I will ask you lots of questions (no need to answer any that you're uncomfortable with!) to get to know you and your history, strengths, challenges, and goals. I will make sure there's time for you to ask me any questions you'd like too!
Therapy is largely client-driven which means we will talk about whatever you want to talk about. I will provide you with tools to cope with stressors when you're feeling overwhelmed. I will create and maintain a safe space where you can be your whole authentic self. I will hold space for you during each session to experience your emotions fully. I will help you process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to make sense of things which are often challenging and uncomfortable. I will support you in uncovering and employing your strengths. I will empower you to take steps towards the life you want to live.
You will always be met with respect and warmth. I promise to offer you a safe and special place to feel your feelings, consider your actions, engage in decision making, improve relationships, and much more.
Therapy sessions occur weekly or biweekly (once every two weeks) depending on mutual schedule availability, the degree of support required, and the goals you'd like to achieve.
Sessions will last approximately 55 minutes. If you plan on using your health insurance, I will be billing using CPT code 90837 which necessitates at least 53 minutes of face-to-face time. This leaves me with approximately five to seven minutes between scheduled sessions for note taking.
Privacy and confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me and I aim to respect your autonomy as much as possible. In these troubling times, I am especially conscious of maintaining privacy for trans folks, queer folks, autistic folks, and other highly marginalized communities. Please see this page for the full privacy practices.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule provides consumers with important privacy rights and protections with respect to their health information, including important controls over how their health information is used and disclosed by health plans and health care providers. Ensuring strong privacy protections is critical to maintaining individuals’ trust in their health care providers and willingness to obtain needed health care services, and these protections are especially important where very sensitive information is concerned, such as mental health information.
Please see my Services and Fees page for this information!
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy which means sessions must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to their scheduled start time. If sessions are cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, a late cancellation fee will be charged. For further details, please review your intake paperwork.
In the event that you are sick or injured, or for some other reason unable to attend a scheduled session, please reach out to me via email as soon as possible. If we are able to reschedule our session within the same week, I am able to waive the late cancellation fee.
Book with me through this link or reach out via email at contact@alcovetherapyservices.com. I look forward to speaking with you, answering any questions you have, and helping however I can.
At this time, I exclusively offer telehealth therapy.
I provide individual therapy to adults and teenagers, typically starting around ~12 years old. I do not provide therapy to children and I do not provide relationship / couples therapy.
I work especially well with people who want to learn how to set and maintain boundaries with others in their life in both personal and professional settings, people who want to build a better relationship with their money, people who want to behave more in alignment with their values, and people who want to improve their communication skills to strengthen relationships with loved ones.
If you're unsure whether we would be a good fit to work together, please schedule a free 15 minute consultation.
